Digital Archiving a Hot Topic at 3rd PAGSO Convention

   On May 13-17, the people who are vital to the operation of any Local Government Unit (LGU), the General Services Officers, descended on Cebu City to hold the 3rd PAGSO National Convention. During the duration of the meet, GSO’s tackled various topics and agenda vital in their role as public servants and career officers of the government. The event was the bigger than the previous years’ event as more members attended this year’s convention.

The event was well thought of and the topics are timely. Among the topics discussed are on global warming, archiving and GSO as career officers of the government.

On global warming, the topic focused on what the LGU’s can do to mitigate, adapt and help in lowering the impact of global warming in their respective communities. As the first responders to local disasters LGU and their GSO should be well prepared for the eventuality.

On archiving, there is a common agreement that the keeping of records in a systematic way, accessible and secure way. The answer to this will be in the form of digital archiving. Digital archiving makes data easily accessible to users, the community will be served better and the keeping of records will be more systematic and less costly than the traditional filing method. LGU’s can convert their old files into digital format using scanners available with Develop multifunctional copiers.

The printers were won by three lucky participants from the LGU's of Pasig City, lapu Lapu City and from Dinagat Islands. Indeed the event was memorable and Copylandia's participation made the event more exciting aside from being an informative one also.
